We are early in the season, but this was already the second Istanbul derby between these two teams. Fenerbahçe wanted to beat Efes after losing in Turkish league, but it was Efes who balanced the game after using Stimac and Dunston together. In the second quarter, McCollum initiated an Efes run but Fenerbahçe responded with good ball movement and first half ended in a draw, 34 - 34.

Third quarter showed us glimpses of what this year's version of Fenerbahçe is capable of. They ran, and then ran some more, which resulted in 28 points. It should be noted that Sloukas - Wanamaker duo seem more comfortable with each game. It will be interesting to see how will Dixon blend in with his Braveheart-inspired gamestyle.

Despite Simon's efforts, it was Fener who came on top at the end of fourth quarter. Fener stopped Efes well short of 86 points they conceded in the last game, and had the win they needed this week. Meanwhile Efes will try to bounce back this Friday against CSKA in a home game.

In first Euroleague match Fenerbahce has off. rebound problem against Unicaja Malaga. (TOT 28 vs 36 | OFF 4 vs 16) After this match appear like Fenerbahce solved this problem. (In EA7 match TOT 40 vs 28 | OFF 14 vs 10) (In EFS match TOT 36 vs 30 | OFF 8 vs 9)

Fenerbahce ORAT in this match is 122.7 which is great number according to team that has new roster to get used each other. DRAT also 100.

Playmaking... Not only a cyclical but also a structural problem for Efes. Balbay and Adams creates absolutely nothing for teammates. Efes' offense is based on Mc-Ledo's iso's and Brown's high-post game. There are 10 foreign players, but there is no pure playmaker and elite shooter.

Playing with two C on the 1st half could slow down FB. However, Fener's spacing with elite players was very difficult to cope with. Therefore, Efes struggled on the third quarter. FB dominated the game and Coach Peras couldn't answer. Dictating the tempo was the key of this match and Fener did this.

This EuroLeague season seems to be very hard for Efes.

Defending champion first home match in the season was a derby match at İstanbul. Fenerbahce main roster was Sloukas-Dixon-Bogdanovic-Kalinic-Datome-Udoh-Vesely who helped Fenerbahce to reach the Euroleague title in last year and also auxiliary players too.(Nunnaly, Antic etc.) Two of this major players went to NBA(Udoh-Bogdan), the other two are injured (Dixon-Kalinic) at the moment. Only Sloukas, Datome and Vesely were able to play in first three match at this season. Because of this reason, Fenerbahçe start season with new roster, new tactics and of course it will take time for the players to get used each other, Obradovic tactics and Euroleague basketball style in order to play better as a team.

Perasovic has put the blame on the allegedly weak rotation of his team after the game. But no Mr. Perasovic it was not case that caused you the loss for tonight! It was the culture of winning that Obradovic , who won the coach of the year award right before the game.
Efes did an amazing job, punished FB's help and recover defense at the first half. Simon finally opened up the curtain and joined Stimac and Dunston. We have seen great connection between Sloukas to Wanamaker, Wanamaker to Vesely and more, with 13 shots from 13 asists. At half time although Pera was happy, Obradovic was not. The %70 of PIR for Efes has come from Stimac and Dunston, not sustainable at all. Fenerbahce pushed the botton, they did everything, rebound, block, steal, monster dunks, you can not stop Fenerbahce once they are on fire. The fans already started to sing the song of Vesely, you know what this means! As a result of 28 points at one Q. Simon tried to bounce back on 4th but was not enough.

Fener's offense still looks rigid and offensive roles are still messy and not defined as some other teams' rotations are. But it's still early and Zeljko is the GOAT so, it is not too worrisome.

Efes' Stimac-Dunston counters against 4-out lineups look interesting. It'll be a thing to monitor all season.

For all of his negatives, Efes dearly misses Heurtel on the floor. Past prime Kruno Simon is the only consistent creator on the team and he's not enough to be the primary initiator on a team that seeks Euroleague playoffs.

It will be interesting to see how Obradovic will integrate especially Wanamaker & Melli in the offense gradually this season. And with Kalinic and Dixon sidelined, adaptation process will take a while as I expect some losses in the meantime.
